Dumping a ZSNES Movie as an RGB Video

It turns out that ZSNES has a video dumping facility. Unfortunately, all of its presets are crap and it wants to dump the video out as YUV, which looks horrible. And you need to download MEncoder, which can be hard to find.

Colossal Cave Adventure

Well, since I've actually got the thing working for the most part, try playing the Colossal Cave Adventure, ported to JavaScript! This (should) be the entire mostly-original game, playable right from in your browser. At present there's no way to save your game, but that's OK, it's more exciting that way.

Let's Play Armored Core: Lots Of Numbers

I've been putting off posting this for a while, but while we're at it, here's a gigantic list of what the various part stats mean, according to the in-game help.

First off, generic stats that (almost) every part has:

Weight
The number of WP it costs to equip the part. The maximum available weight comes in two forms: the amount of weight the legs can carry, and the amount of weight the arms can carry.
Energy Drain
The amount of energy required to equip the part. The energy available is a function of the current generator.

Let's Play Armored Core: Ranking Ravens

I've basically completely glossed over the Raven rankings, so as another text-only update, let's go through the Ranking Ravens. The Top 10 Ravens are given using their ranks at the start of the game, the ranks change as you play through the game.

Sometimes these changes are based on fights with enemy Ravens, but frequently, they change regardless of your actions.

Let's Play Armored Core: Large Text Dump

Since I've basically completely skipped the story so far, here are some emails from R to explain the various factions that make up the future world of Armored Core.

Let's start with Murakumo Millennium and Chrome themselves:

From: R

Chrome and Murakumo

Zam City was one of the very first cities built in the underground city development program, so redevelopment is proceeding in various areas of the city.

Let's Play Armored Core!

Armored Core

Armored Core is a game series by From Software, who are best known for, well, the Armored Core game series. While still somewhat a niche title, Armored Core is a fairly successful "mech" game. You play as a mercenary, called a Raven, who pilots an Armored Core: a giant customizable mech.

3D Dot Game Heroes Reference List

This is an incomplete list of references found in 3D Dot Game Heroes. If you want to help complete it, post additions as comments - I promise I do eventually get around to checking the moderation queue!

Pokémon is some messed up stuff...

You may notice that one of the games I've got listed as playing over on the sidebar is Pokémon SoulSilver. I played the original Pokémon Blue way back when it was a crappy GameBoy game.

But, man, is the world of Pokémon a messed up place. You play as a... uh... 1.5 meter tall, 40 kg boy. Or a girl, but I don't know what they give as her height/weight. Which means he's presumably around 12.

Let’s Play Commander Keen 5: It Has Begun

My brother and I have started playing through Commander Keen 5, a relatively well known old DOS side-scroller.

And one that really hasn’t aged well, nor does it play as well as some of the more well-known console-based side-scrollers like Mario.

I’m not going to upload the video quite yet, although it looks like we’ve got a working system. Before I get to that, I want to finish my Commander Keen 4 Pyramid of the Forbidden video, which I’ve finally got a “finished” version of that I still need to upload.

Let's Play Commander Keen 4

PAX East is coming up this weekend, and what better way to prepare than to play really old DOS sidescrollers?

So, Let's Play Commander Keen 4!

This is my first Let's Play, so it's going to be a bit rough around the edges. Video is available after the jump.
